Miscellaneous Fanfic has been restored!
In the course of 30 years of writing fanfic, I have ranged across a wide swatch of fandom. I’ve always had an obsession with old, obscure (to American fandom) series and here you can find the product of those obsessions. Some of these stories are for series that never have and probably never will make it over here, most especially Hana no Asuka-gumi and YajiKita Gakuen Douchuuki, and a few pieces that are fandoms that just missed their chance at the big time, by dint of coming out and being amazing before the current era of Yuri popularity; Devilman Lady, Noir, Madlax, El Cazador de la Bruja….and a lot of series that just had to be fixed…you know what I mean. ^_^ There’s at least one straight story and a BL fanfic in this mix and two stories I wrote for contests; one as a prize and one as a winning entry.
Some of my best fanfic writing are in these stories. In several cases, bits I put into a story turned up later in the series it was written for – I will never forget the feeling when Hana no Asuka-gumi came back after 15 years and the exact same thing I had written into my story years before that showed up in the canon. I believe I ran around the house screaming a bit. ^_^
Before I close out old business and movie on to new, I want to offer my undying thanks and admiration and affection for the members of the Fanfic Revolution: Adam, Alan, Cheebs, Chris, Leloi, Matt, Sean and Sparkle. I will never be able to thank you all enough for all the hours you spent reading and commenting, editing and making me a better writer than I might have otherwise been. Alan, you laughed so hard at my Kekko Kamen story, you fell off your chair, Sean, you constantly made me write new chapters of things I thought I’d finished and Adam, you wrote lovely poetry and fantastic prose. Sparkle, you know I love you. I wrote so many of these stories all as love letters to you all, to fandom at large and, of course, to the creators of these fabulous, inspiring characters.
Now, all those years later, I’ve still got ideas crawling out my ears. They are all original (well, original-ish because, let’s face, it all of this writing is relying on a dozen different external influences). I’m working on another Yuriko novella, set 15 years after the original 2 and I’m working on an original not-an-isekai webnovel, which you’ll see here in upcoming weeks. For the newest chapters, become a Patron on Patreon! It’s called Yes, I’m a Hero, I Just Prefer Not to Fight! and I’m already chortling as I write, so you know it’s going to be fun. To paraphrase Shidou Misako, Sid, from Hayate x Blade, it’s so fucking awesome, rocking, yeah! ^_^
Welcome Back to “Worldshaking” Fanfic! Here’s to a future of worldshaking fiction!
